Police’ll restore peace to North soon – IGP

The Inspector General of Police, Mr. Mohammed Abubakar has assured Nigerians that the prevailing security challenge facing some part of the northern states of the country will soon be over.

Abubakar, however, lamented the shortage of equipment for his officers and men to confront the security challenges facing the nation.

The IGP said this when he paid a courtesy visit to Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso on Tuesday in Kano.

Court orders Uba, Achigbu’s probe over Ibori’s money

Abuja Chief Magistrate’s Court has ordered the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Muhammed Abubakar, to conduct an  investigation on Senator Andy Uba and a businessman, Chibuike Achigbu, over the controversial $15m cash allegedly to be given to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission as bribe by former Delta State governor, Chief James Ibori.

A statement from the Festus Keyamo Chambers, signed by Messrs Oghenovo Otemu and Ugochukwu Ezekiel, assistant head, Abuja, said the court made the order on Monday, September 10, 2012, following a direct criminal complaint made by the chamber.

NEW LAGOS: Beautify your premises or go to jail

The Lagos State Government on Tuesday said it was now mandatory for occupiers of houses in the state to beautify the perimeter areas of their buildings.

The government said a violation of this would attract N250, 000 or the amount the state would incur if it decides to carry out the beautification, or six months imprisonment or other non-custodian sentences.

It added that anyone caught felling trees in the state or trimming them without permission would be fined a minimum of N50, 000 or sent to one year imprisonment.

Clothed Prince Harry, back in public

Going out in public for the first time since TMZ published nude photos of him in Las Vegas, a clothed Prince Harry showed up today to the WellChild Awards ... which are being held at the InterContinental Hotel in London.

The event is held annually and honors the lives of the young people and the doctors and nurses who care for them.

According to TMZ report, Prince Harry vowed he would appear at some point during this week's 2012 Paralympic Games in London, though it was unclear which event he would show up to first.
